Grenada Continued

Friday we went to the wonderful beach of Grand Anse. It was a great day for laying around in the sand and taking in some sunshine. It is such a different beach than Las Sagesse. It was little more touristy, though there still weren't too many people. I loved the soft sand and the pretty blue water. Me, Ashlee, and Rylee (don't you love Rylee's hat.)Rylee taking a nap. (I love holding a sleeping baby.) She was such a great sport for us. She went along with us everywhere we went and hardly ever cried. I am sure she was thinking can't I even take a nap in my own bed. On this beach there was a man that came around selling things made out of coconut leaves. He had a bowl that I bought. Then Ashlee and Shelli decided to buy one to. He just sat down on the beach and started making them after he had a smoke and a beer in between each one.

Then we were off to get ready, pick up our rental car (Grenadian six seater which in the US would be five, oh well it did have air conditioning), get Justin and head to Gouyave. When we got to the Nutmeg factory it was closed but since Ashlee had been there before they let us walk around by ourselves. Then when a guy came to check on us Daniel gave a him a couple of bucks and he really turned into a guide. The factory was so great it was really old and certainly different than anything you'd see in the US. Grenada is one of the largest nutmeg producers in the world. While we were in Grenada we tasted nutmeg ice cream and salad dressing both were great. We also brought home nutmeg syrup, which I can't wait to try on some waffles.

Then we got to walk around the streets for a while. It was fun to see how they live and how small all the streets are. Two way streets are the size of one way streets in the US. While we were walking around there was a cool old building with a church next to it that we used for a photo opportunity.
Here is a picture we took by the church.

Then we sat down on a bench and waited for the fish fry to start. This is a picture of a cute little black girl who was enthralled by Rylee. She came over played with her and even gave her a kiss. Everywhere we went all the kids thought Rylee was so cute. I don't think they see very many little white kids. I loved how all the little girls had bright barrets in there hair

(It isn't a very good picture because they were both moving but I had to post it anyway.)

When the fish fry started it was so much fun. The vendors just set up booths along the street that is strung with lights. Then they all sell different foods. It was an experience that we definately wouldn't have tried without Justinn and Ashlee. We are so glad that we did we had so much fun. We all bought a bit of everything and shared. Dustin even shared with our new Yachtee friend spoon and all. (We tried coconut shrimp, shrimp kabobs, tuna kabobs, coconut pies, fish pies, fish cakes, crab back, fried cous cous, fried plantain, macoroni pie, shrimp lomein, and yummy ice cream. ) We liked almost everything we tried. We had such a great time and all left full. On the way home Dustin decided to ride in the cargo space of the car and we all enjoyed a little more room.

Day one

View off the front porch.

I am starting to post from our great trip. I decided to break it up. This post will be on our first days in Grenada. We arrived in Grenada on Wednesday the 11th at 9:30pm. When I walked of the plane on to the runway. I said "I don't thing I will need my coat anymore." A man working for the airplane looked at me like I was a weird tourist and sad yes it is warm here.. It was the first time any of us had been thru customs. It was an interesting experience. By the time we got done we all had a stamp in our nice new passport books and were hoping Justin was still outside waiting for us (since we were about the last ones of the plane thus the last in a long line to go thru customs.) Luckily Justin was standing out there waiting for us. We were so glad since we didn't even know the name of the town they lived in. Then we overflowed the car with our luggage and all of us. We dragged bottom on a few speedbumps on the way to the apartment. It was great to see Ashlee and Rylee. Thursday morning we had a relaxing morning sitting on the front porch enjoying the warmth and admiring all the green hills. We even ate the pancakes Ashlee made for us out there. Then it was off to Mt. Carmel. We got to drive thru some of the country and have a new driving experience. They drive on the left side of the road. There roads are windy, steep and narrow. Then there are people just standing on the side of the road hanging out. It made me think where is the parade. Mt Carmel is a beautiful set of waterfalls. It was a very short easy hike up to them. Then it was was lush greenery everywhere around. It made me thing of what I picture a rain forest to look like. We walked around the rocks. We even swam in the water that was such a nice temperature. When we were done at the falls it was off to the La Sagesse beach. We spread our beach towels out on the sand and ate our picnic lunch. Then it was time for laying in the sun and playing in the waves.

After a great afternoon we headed back to get ready for dinner. We headed out to Bananas one of Justin and Ashlee's favorite restaurant. They told us they have american like hamburgers. We all got one along with some great potato wedges. I have to say it was a great hamburger. Then it was back to sit on the porch for a relaxing evening.

Home

This is the cute picture I took of Jace before we left on our trip. I kept it on my camera and would look at it often during our trip and think of how handsome he is.

We got home on Sunday afternoon. We had a great time, but it was so great to get home. As we flew in to Salt Lake City and saw the snow capped mountains Daniel got a smile on his face. When I asked him why he was smiling he just said it is great to be home. When we walked into my mom and dad's house and saw Jace I was on the verge of tears. I didn't think I would have the hard time I did being gone from him. He seemed so much older and smarter than when we left him 12 days earlier. It really felt like we were home when he gave me one of his great kisses and hugs and told me he loved me. He was glad we were home, but was even happier to get his presents. The mattresses in Grenada and Dominican Republic was nothing like my pillow top at home. Me and Daniel were tired and so excited to sleep in our bed we went to bed about 8:00. It was so great to sleep at home knowing Jace was asleep in the next room. I want to thank everyone who took care of Jace while we were gone. I know he was well taken care of and loved while I was gone.

This is the hat we brought back from Grenada. The colors for Grenada are red, yellow, and green.

Dominican Republic

We are now at the Coconut Palms Resort in Dominican Republic. It is very lovely. We hung out on the beach today and had a few eyefuls. There were a few men in Speedo's and a women who was topless. *Believe me none of which was a pretty picture* We are having a great time with Dustin and Shelli. We are so glad they came with us. We are missing Justin and Ashlee and cute Rylee. I am also missing Jace so much. I am glad we having so much fun or I would be wanting to head back right now just to kiss kim and have him tell me he loves me.

We fly out of Grenada tomorrow morning and head to the Domincan Republic. Wish us luck. Liat Airlines will be a different experience for sure. We have had such a great time and have more fun yet to come today. I would highly recomend coming here to anyone. Especially if you can find a great tour guide like Ashlee has been. She has planned such fun things for us to do while we are here. Hope everyone at home is good and cold. I have been in the ocean for the last two days and in flip flops and shorts. Happy Valentines Day everyone. Jace we love you. Hope you like your Valenitnes present,

Grenada

WE ARE HERE. After all day plane rides we arrived in Grenada last night. It is beautiful. It is very warm and quite muggy. We slept with just a sheet on us last night. We are so glad that we have great friends that let us crash at their house. Ashlee was a great tour guide today. We went to some great places today. I will be sure to post pictures and give lots more info when we get home. I am surprisingly just missing Jace alittle bit. It helps to know that he is being loved at home. Rylee is here to play with and is such a cute good girl. She was great on our adventures today. Justin and Ashlee have it so good with her.

I can't believe it is almost here.

So a week from today we will be flying to Grenada. I can't believe we are actually going. This is the first time I have been out of the country. I am so excited but starting to get really nervous. I will be leaving Jace for a week and a half. I hope that he is good while we are gone. I know that he will be loved by the all that he stays with. (five different places) I know that he will be spoiled and have so much fun sleeping over. I hope that our all day airplane ride go good. I hope none of us get sick. I hope that our credit cards work while we are gone. The weather better be sunny and warm. Don't get me wrong I am so glad we are going. It is just hitting me that wow we are going.
